BigB & LittleP

Improvisation

It wasn't his fault.  He did his best.  The only option was the empty painting tray.

When accidentally shut in the bathroom since 4am and desperate for a piddle, what is a cat supposed to do?

It's about time we introduced ourselves...

It' been far too long.  Not our best, but the best mum can do for now due to her limited technical ability...

the one and only 'LittlePoppet'

and the handsome BigBoy

(we wont tell you how looooonnnngggg it took her to post this - hopeless, absolutely hopeless she is!)

Dietary disaster

Finally took LittlePoppet to the vets to check out her limp - still lame after a month but seems to be herself apart from the hobble.  Vet couldn't find anything nasty and suspects she's just pulled a ligament.  Suggested putting steps in if she jumps from heights?!  Yeh right?!

He didn't comment on her new swelt like figure - can't blame him, she still looks like a little puddin.  So we had a weigh-in today.  She WAS 5.3kg.  She's just undertall. That's all.  Today she IS 5.5kg.  Yep, that's .2kg MORE than she weighed before the diet started.

Mummy clearly isnt being as strict as she needs to be.  Vet couldn't give me any answers to the fact that he's suggested I dont feed them when they fuss, and feed them when they're not.  Easy said, except they fuss ALL the time.

So rations have been reduced even further.  They HAVE to lose some weight.  I can't have obesse kittycats.

If they thought mummy was mean before they're gonna really think I'm really really mean now.

cry-y-y-ing...

from the moment he was locked in the spareroom... all day.  BigBoy howled.  And howled.  Confirming my worst fears that he'd done the same all the other day's they'd been shut away from the builders.  How could I explain it was for his own safety?   How did he not fall asleep with exhaustion?  I could see him on the windowsill, his body shuddering with every wail.  Hear scratching at the door.  It was heart breaking.  Even the workmen commented on his cries.

Luckily, once released from his incarcaration, after a few minutes of objectional behaviour, all was forgotten with a QT snuggle and we were best buddies again.  That's cats for you... Thankfully!

Simple equation..

...eat more, exercise less you start to put on weight.  No longer can it continue.  So "Big"BigBoy and "Podgy"Poppet have been weighed and signed up to the 'Catkins' Diet, nicknamed as it's high protein, low carb!  Most cat food has carb to bulk it out but funnily enough there's not a lot of it in a cat's natural diet of dead animals.  Of course it is my fault, not necessary from over feeding as I have been cutting their rations down, but for relocating them from the open fields and easy hunting of the countryside to the rough, high density of city life and their now sedentary life.  It wont be easy.  I've been warned I have to be strict.  But it is for their own good.  I don't want them to become an obesity statistic. The regime starts next week!

PoorlyPoppet

She'd looked peeky for a couple of days. She wasn't herself. I could just tell. Gone was her usual extravert and outgoing self.  She'd lost the bubble and sparkle.  She hadn't eaten for days, she wouldn't even be tempted with special treats hand delivered. She wasn't interested in playing or having company. She just slept all day and looked at me with those big sad eyes. Something hurt, but I couldn't tell what. No obvious sign of swelling or pain. All over the Bank Holiday weekend, I worried, checked and worried some more.

But thankfully, she is now feeling MUCH better. I can tell because she keeps telling me! Very chatty, flashing those big eyes at me, following me around like a shadow keeping me company and insisting we play ball together.

It's really tough being a mum.

Back to normal

Bar the shaved legs, BigBoy is back fitting fit, or almost at least.  He's wised up to my efforts of getting the tablet down him, and even tuna won't entice him now to eat his tampered meals.

Turns out he didn't have an abcess, or a broken foot, but a nasty anaerobic infection of the tissue (normally they're aerobic but these are particularly clever not requiring oxygen and need special antibiotics).  But they are well on their way to being exterminated.  Now all I need to do is exterminate the bully-boy that keeps infecting my two with viscious bites.
